In order to better understand the social situation before commencement of the mine and to assess the benefits and impacts from the mining activity, it is very important that local community, and groups of interest such as fishermen, hunters, sheep farmers, the Greenlandic authorities and experts, institutions, etc. actively participate in the formal Social Impact Assessment process (SIA). This process has already started with numerous community and stakeholder meetings held in May and June 2010.
